The truth, love, wisdom, the true light, the right way, life are one and the same: Jesus Christ, John 14:6: "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" Definition of the truth in dictionaries is: in accordance with fact or reality(the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them). In my opinion, the truth means what exactly happened. If you ask someone and tells you what exactly happened he is telling the truth. Also, the truth is if someone tells you exactly what will happen. Why is Jesus Christ the truth? Because Christ says something and it happens. He is God and as God He says something and it happens. He says the truth. Great power makes things happen just as God has said. The great prophets do not foretell the future they direct the future. This is shown in the Holy Bible: 1 Kings 17:1: "Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, 'As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.'" God directs all the events God is the truth: Genesis 1:9-10: "And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good."
True is the one who has no lie, no sin, no deceit. Jesus Christ is true 1 Peter 2:21-22. As God He performed miracles, healed the sick, the disabled, resurrected the dead, freed possessed from demons, preached.
Repentance is the road to the truth. Psalm 119:142: "Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth." There is no lie in repentance Leviticus 19:11, there is no injustice Numbers 5:6-7, there is no malice(the desire to harm someone; ill will) 1 Peter 2:1. With repentance you reach the truth, which truth is dynamic. It is a spirit you feel it and gives you power. The truth does it her way. The truth always wins, in the end. The thoughts that you have when you acquire the truth are thoughts of what actually happened or it will happen. John 8:44: "You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies." Satan is the father of lies he says, spreads lies, and the thoughts you have when you sin are false, pervert, fantasies.
Jesus Christ is right, correct. His words and works are right. He has not done any wrong. The truth is right, correct, exact, accurate, the lie is wrong.
How do we get the truth? When we are in repentance and pray:
O Heavenly King, O Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, who are in all places and
fill all things, the treasury of good things and the giver of life: Come and
abide in us, cleanse us from every stain, and save our souls, O Good One.
John 8:34-36: "Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." What does Jesus Christ, who is the truth, will set you free mean? If you beg Jesus Christ He will make you stop sinning. That is what it means.
John 17:17
"Your word is truth."
John 8:31-32
"To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
1 Corinthians 13:6
"Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth."
Saint Gregory of Nyssa
The one who drinks and gets drunk from too much wine, tells with his will the truth. The same with the one who gets drunk from divine devotion he never tells lies.
Sophocles
The truth is always right.
Aristotle
It is better, and indeed it is our duty, to reject whatever is close and influences us, in order to defend the truth, especially we who are philosophers or lovers of wisdom. Because, while both are precious, we have a duty to honor the truth more than our friends.
